This weekend marked a new feature in this years Ultimate Team. The great wide receiver Sterling Sharpe was released into the game. Normally this is nothing new to Ultimate Team but this week EA Sports twitter tweeted out that players would be able to rent out Sterling Sharpe for the low price of 10,000. Here are a few more details:
today is Sterling Sharpe’s Madden Ultimate Team debut. In an update to the legends program, today you can purchase a 94 OVR Trial Edition Sterling Sharpe from the store for 10,000 coins. However, on Monday 10/20 he will drop to a 75 OVR.
This marks a world of possibilities in the MUT Universe. Will they continue renting out these legends for a certain period of time? As a veteran of the game mode I think that this has its ups and downs:
Positives:
This feature allows all players to experience the new best cards. Normally a player like Sterling Sharpe will never be available to the casual players but this levels the playing field.
Since the card turns into a 75 overall after two days it is still a valuable asset. Many times EA Sports lowers ratings in an uneven fashion. For example a cards speed may not lower but their awareness an even exchange for most MUT players.
Negatives:
You have to face an Elite wide receivers and other players on a regular bases. The fact that already stacked teams will have the opportunity to bolster their team even more is scary. Also it increase the “upset” factor by allowing weak teams a home run threat on every down.
All in all this can be a good thing it almost seems as if it is a rich get richer tactic, but the ever present Robin Hood is waiting to steal their thunder.
