I’ve finally done it. I’ve reached the Mecca of the NFL. Superbowl XLIX now belongs to me. Although this is not the first time I have captured the title this year, this is the first time I have been able to record.Above you will see the full video from start to finish but before you watch it let me give you a little bit of background.
I began the road to the playoffs early Friday morning after class. This time the road was unusually easy as I rolled to a 8-0 record during the regular season. The playoffs began a little choppy but thanks to a first round bye, the task wasn’t too daunting. I won my divisional title game in a tight match up. I noticed that I had one glaring hole and that was my running back.
After about thirty minutes of deliberating it came down to two options, Captain Marshawn Lynch base Jamaal Charles. I looked at the pros and cons for each running back and it came down to one thing, and one thing only…. speed kills. Jamaal Charles 96 speed trumps Marshawn Lynch’s 90 rated speed, therefore Charles was my final choice.I sent my 88 overall rated team into the conference championship with their new found com-padre Jamaal Charles and never looked back.We fed Jamaal the ball and he proved to be the right choice as he racked up over two hundred yards on the ground. Now that we took down all of our opponents our sights were set on the Superbowl.
Now we are in the Superbowl. The moment all Madden Ultimate Team users dream of. I clinched my sweaty palms to the controller, let out a brief gasp of air, and said let’s do this. In the above video I am represented by the Chicago Bears jerseys and the Team tag 1st. As the game got started my team came out hot riding the momentum of their recent victories. I was feeding Jamaal Charles the ball following the old saying, “if it aint broke don’t fix it.”I continuously ran the play “HB Dive,” out of the New York Giants Playbook. My opponent seemed pretty perplexed as we roared to a 24-10 lead going into the fourth quarter. All of a sudden a momentum swing occurred that I definitely did not expect. After a series of roll outs the score changed to 24-17. I was definitely getting a little nervous. I managed to settle myself and get right back into my scheme. Luckily Jamaal Charles helped me out by converting some huge 1st downs, which ultimately sealed the Superbowl for my ultimate team.
Unfortunately since I was so excited I exited out of my celebration but never the less victory was sweet.
Comments from a Superbowl Champions
Hindsight is definitely 20-20 when it comes to a lot of things in life and Madden Ultimate Team is no different. Sure I could have taken it a little bit more aggressively. Here are a few of my tips that will hopefully help you achieve the same results I did but with greater comfort.
First off stick to your scheme.
- Find a few plays that you are comfortable with and know them like the back of your hand. Having a good knowledge of a set number of plays will allow you to stay in your comfort zone when the heat gets turned up. Normally when you make the Superbowl the games algorithm will select a more than capable opponent for you, so when it gets hot go to your set play and make them pay.
Never let up
- When I took a big league early in the game I began to feel comfortable. As I got comfortable my opponent began to get more aggressive and establish a comeback. My suggestion is once you get up by two touchdowns or more, turn on the chew clock feature. The clock is your friend and worst enemy the less time is left the more likely it is you get the win.
Last but not least…..
- Calm down and be confident. The more flustered you get the more you create mistakes. Turnovers can kill you in this game mode so “forcing” the ball into places is a sure fire way to lose. To counteract this turn on some soothing music or watch a good movie/ YouTube video to keep you calm. However, be care as you can be distracted from the game by the outside noise.
So calm down relax and follow these rules and the Lombardi championships is destined to be yours.
