Christmas is almost here everyone. With the season of giving upon us we have a lot to look forward to. December marks the release of a ton of new content including the Christmas Promotion.
Here is what I expect from the Christmas promo:
New Sets
EA Sports will definitely release new sets somehow relating to the 12 days of Christmas. In my honest opinion this is a big pain in the butt. Users will most likely be required to log on for twelve days straight and do certain tasks to earn collectibles that will unlock a set. The collectibles will probably be able to be obtained in packs as well. The problem I have with this style of promotion is that during the holidays we all like to spend time with our families, which does not leave much time for Madden Ultimate Team.
Within these sets will also be the “ghosts” of Christmas past, present, and future. I know what you’re thinking, “ghosts? but Halloween was weeks ago.” Well the creative team over at EA Sports decided to adapt the popular theme from the Ebeneezer Scrooge movie into football. The cars will be featuring great players from the NFL’s past, present, and future. This gives users opportunity to play with their favorite young and old players that may otherwise have never gotten a card.
New Beastly Cards
As the year rolls on the cards get better and better. The Christmas promo will probably be THE promo that breaks the game. By saying that I mean it will be the first sign of things to come. The newly released cards will most likely be a bunch of 93 overall and up and don’t be surprised to see a few 99’s thrown into the game. The set reward cards will also be unheard of this year in Madden. Hopefully they will be new legends introduced in the game through this promotion. I expect that the man, the beast, the legend Steve Young will come out now.
My Gripes
Although last years Christmas promo was good but a few things could have been improved.
1. Do not create out of position players
- Last year out of position cards ruled the game and quite frankly diminished it’s credibility. I mean come on a Running back playing Quarter back now that is just outrageous. If EA Sports does decide to come out with out of position cards their overalls should be very low.
2. Give players the opportunity to make up missed days.
- Like I stated earlier people spend time with families for the holidays and often miss the required challenges to complete a set. Give a special opportunity to receive the collectibles even if they are missed.
Last but not least I expect them to release the playoff content soon. This content will release the best players playing for the best teams. However only teams that are in the playoff hunt will be able to qualify for this release. The choices of teams will be interesting due to the fact that in the real NFL things are getting very murky in regards to the wild card positions.
