In the above quoted area you can see the recently released patch for Madden 15 on Next Gen. I will be pointing out some of the highlights that will affect madden ultimate team.

Fixed or enhanced multiple team uniforms

Uniforms already looked great but the improvements are pretty noticeable. No longer will users have to see the players forehead stick through the front of the helmet due to the switching of jerseys. Overall the jerseys look more realistic and move with the player better.

Added a “Slim” Play Call option

The “Slim” play call option is fantastic. On the normal enhanced or quick play call menu there is too much clutter and the window takes up most of the screen. The “Slim” play call window offers users a small compact window that just shows the three plays that are available for use. However, the one downfall of this menu is that it does not tell user success rate. All in all this window reminds me of  the fast compact play call windows of Madden’s past.

Added the ability to button through the entire halftime presentation

This is by far my favorite upgrade of the patch. The halftime presentation was an absolute terror to sit through when playing solo challenges. It was long and boring with no way to skip past it. With the new patch you don’t even have to watch it! It makes the game faster by at least 5 minutes.

Defensive Play Call timer has been extended to 15 seconds

This is a significant change because of how offensive minded this game is. The offense has the opportunity to dictate the whole game but not any more. The extended defensive timer allows for users to not be caught off guard by sneaky offenses trying to no huddle the ball up and down the field.

Addressed issue where users only had 10 seconds to call a play vs. the AI

This ties in with the extension of the defensive play clock.

Added QB signature passing styles

This is a really cool feature that they added into the game.It breaks the monotony of every quarterback having the same throwing motion. These are apparent when playing against quarterbacks of past eras especially.

Added logic for receivers that prevents the wrong animation from triggering during catchable passes

If the extended defensive play clock wasn’t my favorite new feature, than this would definitely be the one. It was simply infuriating that when you threw a lob pass to a receiver they would go up for the catch in an unnatural motion. In the games that I have played since the patches release, players perform a more fluid motion to catch passes as seen in the above pictures.

Addressed an exploit where users could put WR’s at the TE position on the depth chart inside of MUT

This upgrade was made purposely for Madden Ultimate Team. Users would exploit the depth chart by placing Wide Receiver player card in the Tight End position. By doing this users would create an unfair advantage due to the fact that Wide Receivers typically have a much higher speed than Tight Ends causing a mismatch on defense against linebackers. By taking this out of the game EA Sports has leveled the playing field for all users.

Fixed an issue where the user’s play would sometimes be auto-selected on defense

Last but not least they addressed one of the biggest issues in Ultimate Team. This bug made the defense vulnerable by auto selecting the play for user. The downfall of the auto selection was that the play that was automatically selected would be a cover zero or an all out blitz leaving no defense in the secondary and spoiling the game in a sense. EA Sports listened to the customers frustrations and fixed the bug resulting in a fair game.

Final Word

No game is percent but Madden is attempting to be and it is noticeable. In the next generation of gaming it is amazing what can be accomplished through patching and updating games. Madden Ultimate Team is a much more level game and is more fluent in it’s gameplay. This patch was very needed.
