Badges are a new concept to Ultimate Team this year so I figured that it would be a good idea to inform you guys about what their purpose is. Badges come in four separate tiers; Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Elite. Just as most of the items in MUT badges increase in value from bronze to elite. If you happen to be lucky enough to pull a badge there are many things you can do with them. For example there are sets (collections) in the game that require a badge or combination of badges that if collected give you some pretty neat player items. Other than finding badges in a pack there are multiple ways to obtain them. Here’s a portion of an article from EA Sports that explains how to obtain badges.
Badges can be earned by completing Sets and winning Solo Challenges. However, the best place to get Badges is in Head-to-Head Seasons. For those unfamiliar, Head-to-Head Seasons are 10-game online seasons organized into eight different levels of competition. Win enough games to climb the ladder to face tougher opponents and earn better rewards.
Now that we know what badges are, what they do, and how to obtain them, I can give my view on badges. Since I have played previous versions of Ultimate Team that did not have badges, the concept is still new to me. However, I think that it is a great idea. First and foremost it is always a good thing when new content is introduced into the game. Badges introduce a new concept that allows for the game not to be so coin currency driven. Badges are like bit coins or savings bonds in that although they have no concrete value, they still hold value no matter what. With the rise and fall of prices the badges are an effective form of currency that can be used to obtain items and it can not be taxed. (EA Sports takes 10% of the coins earned off every auction) All in all badges are a great idea that gives users something else to look forward to while playing Madden Ultimate Team
