As far as Madden Ultimate Team has gone for me this year it has a pleasant surprise. In this post I’ll give my readers an update on how I have been operating in the game mode so far. I have managed to construct my team to be an 88 overall squad filled with a mix of gold and elite players. Click this link to view my current team.
Players I can’t Live Without
Offense
QB-Elite- Captain- Cam Newton
- Cam has been the cornerstone of my team since release day. I have tried out a number of QB’s before I finally tried Cam and I haven’t looked back since. His blend of mobility, throw power, and adequate accuracy makes him the perfect triple threat Quarterback for any team.
Defense
LOLB-Elite- Von Mille
- Von Miller has transformed my defense tremendously. At first I did not believe that one card could impact a defense as much as Von has but now I am a believer. Von’s presence on the field has allowed my defensive line to pressure the Quarterback which also makes the users secondary better from hurried throws.
Playstyle
So far my playstyle has stayed the same since day one. On offense I’ve ran the Eagles playbook and on defense the Chiefs playbook.
Pro’s and Con’s list
Philadelphia Eagles Playbook
Pros
- Heavy pass oriented offense
- Most of the plays from this playbook com from the shotgun formation. This means that your quarterback will have more time to throw it in the pocket. This is beneficial because the opponents pass rush takes a little while longer to get pressure on your offense.
- Diverse Playcall Formations
- A lot of the plays in this formation can not be found in any of the other playbooks on the game. For example many playbooks like the Seahawks offense have cookie cutter plays that are also found in plabooks like the Panthers, Redskins, and Colts.
- Versatility
- Starting from a shotgun postition makes it nearly impossible for your opponent to tell whether you are going to run or pass the ball which makes for a great scheme.
Cons
- Go for a run
- The fact that you start farther back from the line of scrimmage can sometimes make the run game kind of ineffective. Also the playbook lacks a I formation so power running isn’t very well incorporated into the game. However, the incorporation of the singleback formation can offset the pass heavy style of this offense.
- Interceptions
- The amount of passes that you attempt directly increase your chance of being intercepted. Just be careful and you should be ok.
Best for use against: Over pursuing style defenses
Kansas City Chiefs Playbook
Pros
- Nickel Formation
- This is critically acclaimed to be the best Nickel defense in the game. It blends a great mix of the blitz, man, and zone defensive coverage into the package to keep opposing offenses on their toes.
- 3-4 Diversity
- This playbook seems to cater to the 3-4 style of defense perfectly. Users can mix in linebackers and defensive ends into the best coverage for the formation.
Cons.
- No Dime Package
- The dime package lets you put a fourth cornerback into coverage instead of the linebacker. The extra corner makes it possible to cover passes more on downs longer than 10 yards. To substitute this the Chiefs have implemented a Big formation that substitutes in a safety for the linebacker. This is almost the same thing as a cornerback being substituted but safetys often lack the same level of ball skills as corners.
Best for uses against: Run Heavy Offenses
Auction and Trade House tips
This year in Madden Ultimate Team i have been able to be my most successful in the coin making aspect of the game. After two months of the game being out I have amassed a coin total of 1,056,000 coins. Here’s a list of the best tips I can give a player from beginners to pros.
- Buy low on the weekends and sell high on weekdays!
- As a college student I know that schedules often get cramped during the weekdays, so weekends are a time for us to have some fun. During the weekend many users are on buying packs and putting cards on the auction house for cheap. So the best way to capitalize is to buy low on the weekend and sell the cards for higher when less people are on during the weekdays and make a profit.
- Always snipe badges!
- Badges will be a constant in the game throughout the year, which means they will hold there value. If you sit and watch them on the auction house every now and then you can find really good deals that you can resell for a higher value. The market prices usually settle around:
- Bronze Badge- 400-500 coins
- Silver Badge- 1800-2500 coins
- Gold Badge- 7000-8000 coins
- Elite Badge- 50000-60000 coins
- If you see badges for prices lower than this it is almost instant profit, but be sure to take the auction tax into consideration.
