There comes a time in every game where the content becomes somewhat stale. Never fear MUTheads there is an alternative outside of EA Sports. Basketball season is right around the corner and 2K Sports recently dropped NBA 2K15. This year the two companies have virtually partnered up to create two nearly identical game modes.
NBA 2K15 features a game mode called My Team. My Team is a game mode that allows 2K players to create their dream starting five and bench combo. This means players can create a lineup of the greatest players of all time. Can you imagine a team with a starting five of the 1992 dream team and a bench full of the 2010 gold medal winning team. Can you see a starting five of Lebron James, Kobe Bryant, and Michael Jordan, arguably the holy trinity of the National Basketball Association.
Items featured in My Team are very similar to the items featured in Ultimate Team. Users can obtain coaches, player attributes, signature skills, players, uniforms, and stadiums of all different tiers including: bronze, silver, gold, and elite. All of these items are placed into collections that when completed reward you a legendary player that represents the team that the collection is for.
The options that users have to play include:
Domination- A mode that allows you to take on each team in the NBA and earn a jersey, player, and attribute card for winning convincingly against the CPU’s AI. The level of achievement is based on a star system that only becomes harder if the user losses to the CPU AI.
Challenge- This allows users to take on certain teams with preset objectives. Upon completion he users is rewarded with a player card.
Road to the playoffs- This is 2k’s version of head to head seasons in Madden. Once the player has constructed their dream team it is time to take them all the way to the number 1 seed. There are 8 tiers of online human opponents you must battle through in order to beat the whole game modes. 2K Sports rewards the players with a NBA athlete with a rather high overall. By doing this it gives the user incentives to keep playing the game mode.
One of the biggest new features is the auction house feature. This is almost cookie cutter to Madden Ultimate Team’s auction house. Users are able to put up players for any value of My Team tokens. This basically rejuvenated the entire game mode and created a new goal for the users. Unfortunately this also made obtaining players easier and quicker.
So if you are tired of grinding out solos until the next big Ultimate Team promotion try your hand at NBA 2K My Team. Also don’t forget that games such as FIFA 15, UFC 2015, and NBA Live 2015 have ultimate team game modes that will distract you from the rut that Madden Ultimate Team can become if not enjoyed in moderation.
